A Doncaster woman has taken the opportunity of spare time during lockdown and created her own coaching business where she inspires others in the beauty industry to make money from what they love doing.

Essjay Hartshorn is not someone who has let the last five months get her down.

Despite the trials and tribulations of running her own business in a pandemic, she decided that it was the time to jump into a new venture.

The 37-year-old from Auckley, said: “I took advantage of the time I had in lockdown to do things I never normally could have done.

Essjay owns her own beauty clinic and has been in the industry for over 20 years.

She believes she can help spread her knowledge and expertise with other beauty business owners to help them have a better work-life balance.

“To succeed in this industry people think that you have to work 12 hour days, six days a week,” she continued.

“It’s a complete rat race and I think lockdown has forced a lot of people to reflect what they really want out of life.”

Essjay has set up a multitude of resources for those she is trying to help.

She has launched a podcast, made YouTube videos, and created webinars.

All whilst taking care of her two children, maintaining her business and remaining incredibly optimistic about life.

In fact, Essjay starts every day with an eight-mile rollerblade to make sure she starts the day off right.

She said: “It can be really easy to just blame Covid-19 for everything.

“If you let the pandemic engulf you then you will just spend your time scrolling through social media and being depressed.
