Try Park and Pride for some al fresco frolics

Pride And Prejudice

TWENTY years in the great outdoors and Heartbreak Productions are still going strong.

And they are still sending alternative takes on great dramas to Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens.

On Thursday the company return with Jane Austen’s most popular classic, Pride & Prejudice.

Set in the rural village of Meryton, the story of five sisters’ amorous exploits continue to resonate with anyone who has ever been in love.

From the sweet and good natured eldest daughter Jane, down to the coquettish and petulant Lydia, the whole spectrum of women’s behaviour is examined in minute detail with Austen’s delicate yet intense observation.

Heartbreak’s writer in residence, David Kerby, gives the tried and test favourite a fresh and contemporary adaptation by highlighting the wit, fun and absurdities of the characters, intermingled with period dance, music and song.

As per usual, you’re welcome to take a picnic into the park for a performance suitable for ages seven and older.
