Sheffield Monty Python star Michael Palin has sent his best wishes to a theatre group who are performing the South Yorkshire premiere of Spamalot.

Maltby Musical Theatre Group were thrilled to receive a signed copy of the script to the show from Michael, who wrote: “All the best from a Knight of Ni!”

Spamalot is a musical version of the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, written by Eric Idle.

The show follows King Arthur, his squire Patsy and his band of misfit knights as they go on a quest to find the Holy Grail.

Along the way they battle with the Black Knight, have a run-in with the knights who say ‘Ni’, eat ham and jam and Spam and avoid death from a killer bunny.

The show features the song made famous in The Life of Brian, Always Look On the Bright Side of Life, and original numbers written by John Du Prez.

The group have promoted the show by appearing in character in Rotherham and Parkgate.

One of the cast is having a sponsored tonsure hair cut for his priest role on February 21 at the Wesley Centre, Maltby. He’s already raised over £200.
