PUBGOERS with a keen eye for a good photo are being asked to take snaps of their favourite local boozer – to form part of a national exhibition.
The British Beer and Pub Association have launched the appeal as part of Pub Life, the UK’s biggest pub photography competition.
Regular, amateur and professional photographers are invited to capture scenes from their local pubs which could then be exhibited in a top London gallery, from May 16-23.
Entries will be placed into six different categories and there will also be a chance of winning a state-of-the-art Olympus camera.
A spokesman for the British Beer and Pub Association said: “The competition aims to raise awareness about the loss of so many local pubs.
“Recent figures show that, on average, 25 pubs per week are closing and, with 13,000 jobs lost in 2010, more are at stake.
“Pub Life will bring to the forefront the local pub, which is so integral to our society and our cultural history.”
