THE OLD Market Hall in Mexborough has been awarded top marks for its food hygiene standards.

The pub received a five star rating – the highest possible – from Doncaster Council’s Environmental Health department.

Their score has now been uploaded to the Scores On The Doors website, which gives food hygiene ratings to food venues across the country.

Old Market Hall mwanager Nick Patching said: “It is all down to the staff and their hard work.

“They marked us for everything from cleanliness in the kitchen to standards behind the bar.

“They were also impressed with the way we kept our books, and ensured staff training was kept up to date.”

A spokesman for J D Wetherspoon, which owns the pub, added: “The five star rating highlights the commitment from staff at The Old Market Hall in providing their customers with the highest standards of hygiene at all times.”
