COMEDIAN Billy Pearce wasn’t joking when he promised to help make eight-year-old South Yorkshire girl Ebone Jackson a star – even though he’s never heard her sing!

He’s given her a guest starring role on his stage show at Barnsley’s Lamproom Theatre tonight, Sunday, September 11, writes digital editor Graham Walker.

The little singer proved a big hit when she won a Barnsley’s Got Talent pub competition at at the Pheasant Hotel, in Ardsley.

And Billy, who got his own big break as a finalist on TV talent show New Faces, has offered to give her a starring role when his 23-date tour arrives in her home-town.

She came highly recommended to him by pal Jason Thelwell, a presenter on Dearne FM, who helped judge the contest.

Billy, who went on to have his own You Gotta Be Joking BBC TV series and appeared in three Royal Variety Shows, said: “Everyone deserves a break, so I’ve put her on the bill even though I’ve never heard her sing. I have heard great things about her and I can’t wait to see her perform.”
