Jazz music comes in numerous hues and shades and is influenced by many varying musical sources, adding to its wide global appeal, so it should be no surprise that youthful Leeds area based colourfully named band Alligator Gumbo include strong elements of Cajun music from the Louisiana swamp landsin their own spicy brand of jazz.

Fronting the band is trumpeter/vocalist Jon Scully who brings the six-piece outfit to the Con Club for their Donny début on Thursday May 17 together with other talented young players Chris Lloyd, accordion, Mike Simpson guitar), Greg Surmacsz clarinet, Matt Tiffany violin, and James Paylor bass completing the unorthodox though intriguing line-up, who collectively promise a wide selection of stirring numbers, including Digga-digga-do, St.Louis Blues, Crazy Rhythm, When I get low,I get high, Someday sweetheart, Muskrat Ramble, The Sheikh of Araby. The “pant-less” version perhaps, fellas, and many more.

The music kicks-off at 8.30pm, admission £5 at the door.
