A CONCERT featuring a brass band “supergroup” in Mexborough has raised £583 for the Help for Heroes charity.
The event, held on Easter Sunday at the Imperial Club, featured a newly created brass band, made up of the region’s best players.
The band, who went under the name of Imperial Brewery Charity Brass Band, had been put together by the Imperial Club’s co-owner Frank Hoyland.
He said: “We had players from 15 different brass bands taking part, and they are some of the best players in South Yorkshire.
“It is something we have been wanting to do for a long time and it worked really well.”
It was such a success, the band are planning more performances.
Frank added: “It has been suggested that we play three charity shows a year, and we are all up for it!”.
