Stop, blink! Yes it’s really happening… Santa Claus running through the streets in August!

Five pubs from North Nottinghamshire, West Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire are taking part in Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour (BBPT) next week, and the staff and customers of the pubs are celebrating with a Christmas theme. The BBPT which is in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity will make its way into the area on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th August visiting seven pubs and late night bars – Yates’s in Worksop and Retford, Canute in Gainsborough, and Missoula, Reflex, Goose and Yorkshire Grey in Doncaster.

Each of the 620 pubs and bars from the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company are taking part in Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour, by organizing fundraising events galore to raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity. As well as hosting fun events at the pubs, across towns and cities from the Isle of Wight to Inverness, a giant BBPT passport is journeying 5,555 miles throughout the UK visiting each Stonegate business, by an assortment of unique and entertaining methods of transport.

So far Stonegate Pub Company have raised over £160,000 in just eleven weeks of the nineteen week tour, smashing its original target of £100,000 in six weeks and putting it on track to be the biggest ever single fundraising event in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity.

As the largest pub tour ever attempted in the UK, excitement and anticipation for the event in the area is already high with crowds of customers expected to participate in a very early Christmas party!

The BBPT Passport is set to reach Yates on Victoria Square in Worksop at Midday where Santa awaits. He and his merry band of helpers will then carry the BBPT Passport via sleigh, of course, to Yates’s at Chapelgate in Retford for 2pm before heading to Canute on Silver Street in Gainsborough for 4pm. From there he makes his way back to Doncaster and Missoula on Hall Gate for 7pm before reaching Reflex further along Hall Gate at 8pm for an end of day Christmas party like no other.

The following day, Thursday August 7, Santas Claus will be donning his red suit once again to transport the BBPT Passport to Goose, also on Hall Gate for Midday before a whistle-stop visit for a pint to Yorkshire Grey further along the road at 1pm. The BBPT continues its journey later in the day as it makes its way to Rotherham.

Terry Holford, Area Manager at Stonegate Pub Company and regional BBPT coordinator said, “The teams at our pubs and late night bars in Worksop, Retford, Gainsborough and Doncaster have really got behind Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour with bags of enthusiasm and endless fundraising ideas. Watching an army of Santa Claus’ running through the towns in hopefully, blazing sunshine, will be quite a sight! The five businesses aim to raise £2,500 for Variety, the Children’s Charity which supports disabled children and their families nationally and locally.”

“This is our biggest charity fund-raising initiative to date and we are well on our way to raising thousands of pounds to make the lives of many families and their children that little bit easier. We also hope that our12,000 strong team of fundraisers and our fantastic customers have a great time along the way!” said Toby Smith, Chief Executive, Stonegate Pub Company.

As part of the fundraising 50p from the sale of special Charity tipples, Strawberry Pimm’s or a pint of specially brewed real ale, The Crawler (Golden Blonde ale 4.1 ABV) will be donated to the Variety, the Children’s Charity.

To further boost funds, Stonegate have also teamed up with Pop Idol finalist and former soap star Jo Birchall, to launch the single, All About Love, in aid of the charity, which officially launches on 31st August and is now available to pre-order on iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/all-about-love single/id887455726?ls=1

The passport will continue its tour around the country culminating with a spectacular party at Slug and Lettuce, Tower Bridge on Friday 26 September.
