The one thing brave Ben Parkinson can never be accused of is bottling it – but now a brewery has done it on his behalf!

Mexborough’s Imperial Brewery is now producing its Parkinson’s Gold Medale beer – the Olympic ale named in Ben’s honour – in bottles, following its success in hand pumps across the region.

The beer was created after the 27-year-old war hero from Bessecarr touched the heart of the nation when he walked an incredible 300 metres down Bennetthorpe to carry the Olympic flame.

Imperial’s Dale Palmer said: “The handpumped version sold out almost before we finished brewing it, so we think it’ll do very in bottles.

“We’ve brewed 150 to start with, but it’s ongoing, so we’ll keep brewing it as long as there’s a demand.

Ben’s charity Pilgrim Bandits receives 50p from every bottle of the 4.2abv golden hoppy ale, which retails at £2.50 and is available from Mexborough’s Imperial Club.
