A popular entertainer who has performed 150 shows in Doncaster over the past 30 years will set foot on stage at a new venue for the first time tomorrow night.
Acclaimed hypnotist Andrew Newton, one of the most prolific performers at the now redundant Civic Theatre since the 1970s, will stage a show at Wheatley’s Parklands Ballroom after bosses at Doncaster’s new £22 million Cast theatre informed him that his views on hosting a show weren’t compatible with theirs.
He said: “They made it quite clear they didn’t want my show as it didn’t fit in with the kind of acts they want.
“I’ve had 36 years in showbusiness and have never been told I am not wanted anywhere. I wish Cast all the best in the future, but Parklands is my new home in Doncaster now and I am looking forward to playing there.”
Tickets, priced £8.50 and £4.50 for under 14s, are available from the venue by calling 01302 349 881.
He has also promised lots of new material at the show.
