Hundreds gathered outside Mansion House as a Lancaster bomber flypast paid tribute to World War Two Bomber Command veteran Eric Clarke.

Mr Clarke, of Carcroft, who was a wireless operator on RAF missions over mainland Europe, appeared on the balcony at the High Street landmark as the aircraft, one of only two airworthy examples of the famous bomber, flew by to mark his 100th birthday.

The plane appeared from the direction of the market, before returning again for a second sweep past Mr Clarke, then heading off in the direction of the racecourse.
