THORNE photographers will be taking their work “down under” thanks to a new twinning initiative.
Axholme Camera Club held its first club night of the season earlier this month when the chairman outlined the program for the coming year and a special announcement.
After negotiations between the club’s George Fiddler and Mal Hobson plus Valerie Fenbow of Castlehill RSL (Returned Services League) Camera Club in Sydney, Australia, it has been agreed that the two clubs will be twinned in the hope that they will benefit by sharing photographic knowledge.
Castlehill Club has the largest membership in Australia with approximately 280 members, while Axholme Camera Club is also one of the largest membership in Lincolnshire with close to 60 members.
The clubs are to hold two competitions per year. The competitions will be digitally projected to make things a little easier to transport the images across the world.
The first competition will be held in November. Each club will provide 20 images, 10 open subject and 10 compulsory.
The subject has been chosen by Castlehill and is ‘Human Portraits’.
The next meeting is Wednesday, September 21.
