A HISTORIC Barnsley pub – which has been closed for several months – is set for a new lease of life, after a Wombwell-based brewer purchased the building.
Acorn Brewery’s Dave Hughes has taken over the Grade II listed Old Number Seven pub on Market Hill.
A number of different landlords have come and gone in recent years, but Dave said the venue’s future would now be secure.
He said: “There will be a period of refurbishment to spruce the place up and this will likely cost around £30,000.
“But I hope we will be able to open by August, and we will be putting on a variety of real ales. We will make sure it becomes a very attractive place to visit.”
