Yorkshire Waterways Museum launches ‘Heritage for All’ project in partnership with Heritage Lottery Fund.
The Yorkshire Waterways museum is looking for volunteers who want to help it conserve the collection’s and communicate the heritage of the waterways and docks that have been the heart of Goole for 200 years.
This great project aims to enhance the skills of its volunteers, giving them new skills and experience in the day to day management of a museum that they can use to improve life and work opportunities. Heritage Coordinator, Dominic Rogan, said: “The museum is really excited to have received funding from the HLF to develop a sustainable team of enthusiastic and skilled volunteers. We’re aiming to provide the skills for the volunteers to eventually make us a community led museum for Goole and the waterway communities of the surrounding area.”
As part of the Sobriety Project the museum’s volunteering programme is open to hearing from anyone who would like to be part of this development to take the museum forward. Dominic went on to say: “We’re looking to chat with anyone who would like to be involved. All you have to do is contact me; email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01405 768730 asking for me Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.”
Staff from the museum will be at the National Coalmining Museums ‘Miners Gala’ event on June 22 to chat with anyone interested in volunteering.
