VIDEO: Sister Sledge rule at Tramlines

Waiting for Video...

Disco queens Sister Sledge ruled at Tramlines when they turned the center of Sheffield into one huge dance floor to wow thousands of fans as headliners on the Main Stage, writes Graham Walker.

They performed all their greatest hits - including the funky Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards written and produced classics He’s The Greatest Dancer, Thinking of You, Lost In Music and finale highlight, We Are Family.

By then, the capacity crowd of different music tastes and ages, was one big family.

Younger fans who might be more into everything from Katy Perry to the Arctic Monkeys, dedcided disco was their guilty pleasure. If just for one night.

Devonshire Green bounced, with fun lovers singing along sat on shoulders, or forming their own disco dance circles to boogie with the same passion and energy that greeted rap legends Public Enemy earlier in the day.

The hits may be 35-years-old but they bridged the generation gap as children, mums, dads and grandparents all set out to prove they were the greatest dancers on one of Tramlines greatest ever nights.

PS. Dear Tramlines, it’s going to be a tough ask to match this next year. But I have a suggestion. Get on the phone now and book Chic’s Nile Rodgers!
