sheffield Theatres have been named Regional Theatre of the Year in the prestigious Stage 100 Awards.
The complex, which comprises the Crucible, the Lyceum and the Studio Theatres, was praised for the range and quality of both its in-house productions and its programming of touring shows.
The award will be presented at The Stage’s New Year Party at the New London Theatre later this month.
Sheffield Theatres’ artistic director Daniel Evans and chief executive Dan Bates also entered the top 20 of The Stage 100, a list of the most influential people in the performing arts.
He said: “I am truly delighted that Sheffield Theatres has been named Regional Theatre of the Year.
“It has been an extraordinary twelve months for us and this award is a testament to the loyalty and support of our audiences, the dedication of our actors and creative teams, the commitment of our partners and of course, the passion of our staff. I can’t think of a better way to begin a new year.”
