Doncaster boy band sensation Louis Tomlinson could make his long-awaited debut in a Doncaster Rovers shirt in March.

The Bessacarr singer, 22, “signed” for the club last year on non-contract terms and was due to take part in a fund-raising reserve game - but had to pull out of the match after suffering an injury in another charity match just a few weeks before he was due to pull on the red and white hoops.

But Louis, who watched Rovers’ 1-0 defeat at Blackburn’s Ewood Park on Saturday, has confirmed that talks are under way for him to play in a game in the next few months.

He said: “We are talking about the middle of March, end of March time, towards the end of my time off. I’ve not managed to get down much this season, obviously I’ve been on tour.

“But I’ve got a couple of months off now so I am hoping to get to a few games.”

Louis’s debut was scheduled to be a reserve match against Scunthorpe United but he was forced to cancel his appearance after suffering a leg injury in a collision with Aston Villa’s Gabriel Agbonlahor in a game at Celtic’s Celtic Park stadium last autumn.

He added: “Its pretty exciting. Its amazing.

“I was about to watch the game and then looked in the programme and there was my name and the number 28. Its the little things like that that make it pretty amazing. I’m very, very lucky.”
