John Parr to play intimate homecoming concert

John Parr

John Parr

He’s sold more than ten million albums, enjoyed number one hits across the world and worked with some of the music industry’s biggest names.

Eighties music legend John Parr, who lives in Sykehouse, achieved worldwide fame with his 1985 US number one hit single St Elmo’s Fire.

He may have played major venues such as Madison Square Gardens but John is heading back to his roots for an acoustic show at tiny Letwell Village Hall.

The January 12 show will feature tracks from his two new albums Letter To America and The Mission along with classic 80s favourites.

Worksop-born John - who is heading back to America to start touring again at the end of January - will be making a very rare UK appearance.

On his latest album, The Mission, which was released last summer, he said: “The album is inspired by our fighting men and women who put themselves in harms way for our freedom.

“It’s rock, it’s intimate, power and passion, life, love and sacrifice.”

This is not John’s first gig at Letwell, and it was a venue on the Little Village tour which relaunched his stage career back in 2006.

One of Yorkshire’s brightest young singer songwriters, sixteen-year-old Jack Walton from Castleford, will be opening the gig.

Tickets £12 are available from 01909 731626 or 01909 540694.
