The Quirky Choir will be performing songs inspired by Brilliant Women from all over the world at The Point in South Parade, Doncaster, tomorrow evening.
Choirleader Janet Wood has just returned from Zimbabwe where she was inspired by a group of local women to create new music and lyrics.
Janet said: “I wrote a song called ‘Umfazi Olesizotha’ which means ‘Strong Woman’ with some local women. We used the chorus and then created new verses about strong women we know.
“We are also singing a song called Nana Was A Suffragette by Jules Gibb, another song about civil rights campaigner Rosa Parkes, then two songs about brilliant men who have passed on - Asimbonanga about Nelson Mandela and Somos El Barco which Pete Seeger used to sing.”
The 7.30pm performance is free. The Brilliant Women art exhibition is open until Saturday.
