KNIGHTS suffered a heavy defeat in their first ever competitive fixture in Northern Ireland.
Ulster-born David McIlwaine and David Bradford lined up against their hometown team as Brett Davey’s men looked to build on last month’s British & Irish Cup win over Leeds.
But Doncaster were second best on a night the hosts scored five tries to the Knights’ one.
PJ Gidlow went over for the visitors’ solitary score, and McIlwaine added the extras.
But by then Doncaster trailed 18-7 after early tries from Adam Macklin and Michael Allen.
Conditions deteriorated during the second half but the Ravens dominated the game and converted tries for Chris Cochrane, Peter Nelson and Chris Farrell gave the scoreline a one-sided look.
Knights return to Championship action on Saturday with a crucial derby game at Rotherham Titans.
