Second half collapse

Yorkshire League rounde-up

BARNSLEY were unlucky to be pushed out by higher placed Hullensians in an evenly fought Yorkshire Two contest.

Both sides agreed that a draw would have been a fair result, but Barnsley had to settle for a losing bonus point as Hullensians gained the upper hand in the second half and earned a 18-15 win.

Barnsley scored all their points in the first half with David Reed and Jordan Reed touched down while Patrick Jensen converted one and kicked a penalty.

Joe Briggs’ try just before the break gave Hull a lifeline and they surged to victory in the second half with Chris Tranmer’s converted try in stoppage time sealing the win.

Rotherham Phoenix were left to salvage a 16-16 draw in their Yorkshire Four match at York Railway Institute.

Centre John Saddington and prop Pete Robinson scored Rotherham’s tries, and after the visitors had slipped 16-13 behind Tom Jenkinson salvaged the two draw points with his second penalty goal ten minutes from the end.
