Same old, same old?
PREVIEWS: BRISTOL CITY v DONCASTER ROVERS PRESTON NORTH END v DONCASTER ROVERS ANOTHER week, another missed opportunity for Doncaster Rovers.
Neil Warnock's final game in charge at Crystal Palace really should have been an unhappy one, if only Rovers could have turned their stranglehold on the contest into goals.
Which means they head into a very tough week on the road on the back of a 1-1 draw, rather than the win their efforts deserved.
Much of the post-match talk has been of the penalties Rovers were denied and of the goals that were chalked off.
But the biggest issues were the chances that were not taken.
It is the story of Doncaster's life.
It would not be amiss to suggest this time next week Rovers will still be sitting on 41 points, still nine points away from the magic number that will ensure survival.
Relegation talk seems unthinkable, but the cushion is just seven points with 13 games left to play.
While Bristol City and Preston have hardly set the division alight this season in the manner they both have in recent years, they are still formidible teams to visit, especially back to back.
City are on a three match unbeaten run, part of which was a 2-1 win over West Brom at Ashton Gate where they have suffered just two defeats all season.
Preston's home form is also rather impressive. They have lost just three at Deepdale and only once in 2010.
What has held both sides back this season has been their respective inconsistencies. Such patchy form cost now Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine his job at Preston, after he failed to inspire another strong push at the play-offs.
Rovers are consistent performers, but their results mirror their two opponents this week which prevents more than thery are currently worth.
