RUGBY UNION: Davey upset by fourth defeat

Return: Chris Planchant

DONCASTER Knights are still looking for their first Championship win of the season after going down 36-27 against London Scottish at the Athletic Ground.

“The result was a massive disappointment,” said Knights’ boss Brett Davey reflecting on the club’s fourth defeat in as many games.

“The only plus points were the fact that we picked up a bonus point after scoring four tries for the first time this season and that we had Chris Planchant back for the first time this season and he played for 30 minutes in the second half.”

Davey, whose side have had one of the toughest starts of any team in the league this season, had been confident of beating the exiles and that was even more the case after seeing his charges race into a 14-0 lead after just 12 minutes.

“We played like I know that we are capable of playing for the first 15 minutes and then we capitulated.

“They played some good stuff to be honest, but when it came for some players to stand up and be counted, it just didn’t happen.

“It was the same old faces as well who were putting in the effort. We had half the side who were battling incredibly hard and another group of players who weren’t, and that is what hurts.

“I think on Saturday it was definitely down to attitude but there are also issues of ability as well.

“But what is really important is that everybody at this club, including me, has to work harder and try and turn things around.”
