Knights and Titans set for TV cracker

.

.

Doncaster Knights’ big game against Rotherham Titans is almost here, but it is being given an extra boost this season by being shown live on Sky TV.

Remember that the kick off time is 12.05pm to fit in with TV schedules so if you are coming leave yourself that little bit of extra time as a bumper crowd is anticipated.

The rivalry goes back many seasons, the matches having always been eagerly anticipated. Titans beat Knights 23-10 earlier in the season so Knights will be out to reverse this setback on Saturday.

After last night’s rearranged game at Nottingham we also have a rearranged match at London Welsh to fit in before the deadline for the completion of the first part of the Championship on February 25.

If the RFU insist that we have to fit in with this timetable it will mean a total of four games in 10 days with trips to London and Bristol also coming up.

On the evening of the Rotherham game, our players have organised their players’ awards dinner with proceeds to the fund set up for Lee Audis who, was one of the Knights squad severely injured in a road traffic accident just before Christmas.

It was interesting to see the France v Ireland international last Saturday being called off at the last minute because the ground was too hard.

Several questions spring to mind – why doesn’t the French national stadium have under-soil heating; why was the game scheduled for late on a Saturday night at a time when Paris is known to suffer extremes of temperature; why was the game not called off until five minutes before the kick off.

I think we all know the answers – it will be interesting to see what excuses the relevant governing bodies up with!
