Davey fumes at Knights display
.
DONCASTER Knights head coach Brett Davey accused his players of not working hard enough following their 40-14 defeat at Nottingham last night.
The home club, who started the game a point behind seventh-placed Knights, ran in four tries to claim a 40-14 Championship win.
Knights trailed 23-0 at the end of a one-sided first half.
“It was a disappointing performance in the first half and it shows we haven’t played together for several weeks,” said Davey. “We still thought we were in with a chance at half-time if we could get our act together because we hadn’t played in the first.
“Their try after half time obviously didn’t help but I thought we showed a little more endeavour in the second half and scored two good tries.
“But I think overall we contributed to our own downfall and I don’t think we put our heart and soul into the game which isn’t like us.”
The Welshman was also left fuming at the officials, saying: “You can’t get out of your own half if you are constantly being penalised like we were.”
Knights picked up several injuries during the game, including a serious looking knee injury to lock Dan Smith.
