THE DONS: Visit of Dewsbury Rams opens Championship campaign

THE Dons will butt heads with the Dewsbury Rams in their first game following promotion to the Championship.

Tony Miller’s side will host the West Yorkshire outfit on February 3 at the Keepmoat.

A tough trip to fellow promoted outfit Barrow – who Doncaster defeated in this year’s play off Grand Final – follows on February 10.

The first South Yorkshire derby of the season is at Sheffield Eagles on Good Friday, March 29 while the return fixture at the Keepmoat is on September 1, the final game of the league campaign.

The Dons’ only televised game of the season scheduled so far sees them host last season’s Championship leaders Featherstone Rovers on April 11.

The Northern Rail Cup has gone through a revamp for the next season.

The eight teams from Championship One will go through a group stage before joining the 14 Championship clubs in a knock out phase which begins on May 18.
