Troubled Rotherham Titans have had some good news at last - hooker Charlie Maddison and full back Will Thomas have re-signed at Clifton Lane for the 2017/18 Championship season.
Titans ended their campaign with seven straight losses, winning only four times out of 20 across the season and have lost captain Will Owen and lock forward Tom Hicks to Doncaster Knights. Only London Welsh, who went into liquidation, were below them in the League.
The club, who will be coached by Andy Key next season, are pleased to have retained the services of Madison 25,and Thomas, 23, though.
For Madison, it will be his third season in South Yorkshire, having joined Rotherham from Tynedale RFC in the summer of 2015.
Maddison picked-up the accolade of being voted the Supporters Club Player of the Year.
He has made 38 appearances for the club, scoring three tries.
His all-action, combative style has made him a fans favourite at Clifton Lane and his commitment to the Club for next season is seen as a massive positive.
Thomas’s re-signing is also seen as a coup for the club, following an impressive first season for the Titans.
Thomas, 23, joined the Club from Llandovery RFC in the summer or 2016 and was undoubtedly a huge success for Rotherham last term, as his amazing footwork and ability to break the gain line saw him pick up numerous man-of-the-match awards.
Swansea born, Thomas made 18 appearances last season scoring two tries. He also picked-up the prestigious accolade of being voted the Players Player of the year.
Thomas will once again bring real quality and leadership to the Titans backline for the upcoming season.
