Phoenix fail to rise

WITH Barnsley’s home match against Ripon postponed because of the weather conditions, Doncaster Phoenix missed their chance to go ahead of the Shaw Lane team when they were defeated 18-10 at home to Pocklington in Yorkshire Two.

Phoenix had taken an early lead with a try by winger Daniel Greenslade, converted by Dan Storey, and a penalty goal by Storey.

But Pocklington pulled back two penalty goals before half time and clinched the match with two second-half tries.

Phoenix travel to West Leeds on Saturday with Barnsley making a similar trip, to West Park Leeds.

Rawmarsh saw off Nestle Rowntree 10-8 in Yorkshire Five where Rotherham Clifton edged past Hornsea 15-8.

The two local rivals meet on Saturday at Barbers Avenue.
