Opener Alex Lees scored a century as Yorkshire Vikings savoured a comfortable six-wicket Royal London One-Day Cup victory over Northamptonshire Steelbacks.

Patchy weather conditions reduced the game to 38 overs each and Northants slipped to 17-2 as they lost Stephen Peters for a golden duck.

Adam Rossington (75) and Ben Duckett (45) rebuilt the innings, but Rich Pyrah (3-50) took three wickets in 11 balls to restrict the hosts to 209-7.

Halifax-born 21-year-old Lees (102) and Adam Lyth (84) put on 195 and, despite a very late wobble, Yorkshire won with four overs left.

Overall, it was a completely one-sided affair, the visitors kept the Steelbacks to a below-par total and then made short work of their reply, despite losing a handful of late wickets, as Lyth and Lees ran amok. The hosts’ 209 for seven was overhauled in 34 overs.
