FRICKLEY Colliery edged clear of the drop zone with a surprise four wicket win over Old Sharlston.

Phil Howell claimed five wickets to help skittle Sharlston for 227.

He finished on 5-28 with Lovepreet Singh taking 3-76 while Ryan Kelsall leading the way for Sharlston with 57, Dale McMullen adding 41.

A stylish 89 from Nick Crooks anchored the Frickley response with Shane Payne supporting with 31 to help see them through to 231-6.

Hooton Pagnell are now six points adrift at the foot of the table after a battling defeat to Upper Haugh.

John Ashton and Adam Levick provided the majority of Haugh’s 189 run total, hitting 65 and 44 respectively.

Steve Hardaker claimed 3-31 off 14 overs with Chris Harrison claiming 3-34 from 10 and Matthew Harrison 3-53 to help down Haugh in 44.3 overs.

Although Michael Grace impressed with 59 runs, Hooton were always struggling as they hung on at 149-9 to deny Haugh the 10 points and pick up five of their own.

Rob Oxberry snared 4-43 from 14 overs.
