VIDEO: Hundreds compete in Doncaster Road Race

Around 700 water bottles and 500 runners later, Doncaster town centre was a sea of sun-drenched athletes competing in this year’s road race.

The event, organised by Doncaster AC, celebrated its 19th year in the blazing sunshine and saw runners of all ages take on the 1K Johnymac Fun Run, the 5K Veterans race and the 5k Open race.

The course took place along the High Street and through the town centre, finishing in the Market Place.

Runners were also bidding to beat a course record of 14:28 equalled by Dave Tune in 1996 and Jason Ward in 2003.

For the women, Birhan Dagne’s time of 16:35 set in 1998 was the one to they had to try and conquer.
