AMY Oliver and her teammates will look to put a disappointing ranking stage behind them as they pursue a podium finish in today’s women’s team archery at Lords.
The Swinton archer and team mates Alison Williamson and Naomi Folkard ranked 11th of 12 on Friday to set up a round of 16 clash with sixth seeds Russia this morning (9.50am).
The trio won silver in the team event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games but face tough competition if they are to pick up a medal in London.
Top ranked nation South Korea, the United States and Commonwealth champions India are all heavily fancied.
All remaining stages of the women’s team event will take place today.
The quarter finals follow from 3pm, the semis at 4.40pm, the bronze medal match at 5.33pm and finally the gold medal match at 6.01pm.
Team GB’s women will be looking to restore some pride to British archery after the men’s team exited at the first stage against Ukraine yesterday.
Ukraine out-pointed Team GB trio Larry Godfrey, Simon Terry and Alan Wills 223-212 in the round of 16.
Italy won gold after beating the US in the final with pre-Games favourites South Korea beating Mexico to the bronze.
