The club’s A team suffered a 9-0 whitewash away to Beauchief A in Division One and their B team suffered the same fate at home to the Sheffield Club in Division Two.

First pairing Steve Plaxton and Jenny Collins picked up only four games in their six rubbers against very strong opponents.

Club chairman Tony Exley and Michaela Pinchard fared better going down 0-6, 4-6 against the Beauchief first pair, 1-6, 5-7 against their second string counterparts and 2-6, 2-6 against the Sheffield club’s third pair.

Toby Mettam and Christine Knowles lost, 2-6, 2-6 against their third string rivals and 4-6, 0-6 and 3-6, 1-6 respectively against Beauchief’s second and first pairs.

Wheatley Hills netted an 8-1 Gainsborough Evening League win over Scotter seconds. Number one pair Alan Sutton and Lee Ridgill won 7-4, 7-1 and lost 2-7.

Second pair Danny Hill and Jack Pye won all three (7-0, 7-2, 7-4) rubbers as did third pair John Sculthorpe and Pam Green (7-2, 7-1, 7-3).
