Sheffield are facing a test of character in tonight’s home Premier League clash with Peterborough - that’s the view of co-promoter Damien Bates.
Tigers are without three key riders through injury - Ty Proctor with bruising of the leg, Leigh Lanham with back bruising and Josh Bates who has a fractured wrist. All three are hoping to return this weekend in time to appear before Sky cameras at Owlerton against Somerset on Monday.
Edinburgh star Sam Masters, who won the Premier League Pairs at Somerset, comes in for Lanham and Cradley’s National League star Tom Perry covers for Bates.
Damien Bates said: “This is a tough test for the lads, we are up against it with half the team out through injury but the lads will give it their all.
“I’d like to thank Sam and Tom for stepping in for us. Peterborough are a strong enough team anyway so it will be a hard meeting.
“We are up against it at the moment, but there’s a good spirit and we will do all we can to get the three points. I’m sure it will be a good night of speedway.”
Peterborough include Czech Republic GP star Ales Dryml and in Lewis Blackbird they have one of the form riders in British racing, piling up points for both the Panthers and Elite League Eastbourne.
Ulrich Ostergaard has top flight experience and enjoys the Owlerton track and fellow Dane Lasse Bjerre is a classy Premier League performer.
