Mayfair Lady made quite an impression when running out a wide-margin winner on her last two starts and the switch up to Group Three company looks a logical step in the Country Gentlemen’s Association Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes at Salisbury.

Richard Fahey’s charge hit the frame on her first couple of outings before really springing to attention when cantering home by seven lengths on quick ground at Pontefract in July.

She had little trouble in seeing off Fast Enough who has since won himself with the fourth, Emerald Bay, has also subsequently hit the target which gives the form a very solid look indeed.

Mayfair Lady was lining up on vastly different ground at York last time, though, but she showed a bit of cut makes little difference to her as she blasted out of the stalls and was never headed in a competitive nursery event.

Her five-length margin probably does not do her justice as there appeared to be plenty left in the tank so it is no surprise the handicapper has prematurely ended her career in the nursery ranks by awarding a rating of 104.

That mark makes her the joint-top-rated contender here and any drying of the ground would certainly help but is not necessary to aid her chance.

Wordcraft is clearly no Godolphin star but she should be good enough in the EBF Stallions Breeding Winners “Lochsong” Fillies’ Stakes despite conditions probably not being ideal.

All eyes are likely to be on the returning Richard Pankhurst in the Betfred TV EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes at Haydock but preference is for the four-year-old Windfast.

He showed he is not without a touch of Group-class quality when fourth in the Jersey Stakes last season before filling the same position in a Goodwood Group Three subsequently.

Off the track following that run last August, Windfast made a victorious return at Newbury in July, defying top weight to win a handicap in style.
