Sheffield Sharks are close to announcing their next signing as the British Basketball League published its fixture list.

German forward Patrick Horstmann is thought to be the player that Sharks will re-sign for a third season with the club.

Meanwhile the Sharks have been given the toughest possible start to the new season with league champions Newcastle Eagles visiting the EIS for the opening game of the 2015-16 BBL campaign, on September 18.

The Sharks will also face a difficult run after the Newcastle match with Cheshire and Leicester in the first month of the season, all of whom finished in the top-four last term.

Sharks have also been drawn against Giants in the first round of the BBL Cup at home on October 16, and away at Derby Trailblazers in the first round of the BBL Trophy on January 9.

Atiba Lyons’ team will face the Manchester Magic in a pre-season game on Saturday, September 5 in Manchester, and will be announcing further pre-season games shortly in the build-up to the start of the season.

So far the club have announced the re-signing of captain Mike Tuck on a three-year deal, and will be announcing further signings in the coming weeks in the run-up to the season.

Doncaster-born Rob Marsden, meanwhile, has joined Sharks’ Yorkshire rivals Leeds Force.

Marsden played with Manchester Giants last season after a spell in France.
