HATFIELD Town’s slump continued in Pontefract and District Cricket League Division Two as they lost by 15 runs at Barnby Dun.

Mark Nurse (5-45) and Stuart McPhee (3-28) toppled Hatfield for 159, replying to Dun’s 174.

Keiran Dinnage (24) and Dave Barrett (24) led Barnby Dun’s scoring while Jonathan Holmes (26), Darren Sides (2-2), John Severn (2-49) and Nick Page (2-42) were Hatfield’s best performers.

Hatfield are without a league win since June. Their only consolation was that fellow strugglers Yorkshire Main, Glasshoughton and Whitley Bridge also lost on Saturday.

Bottom side Yorkshire Main slipped to a 43-run defeat at Sprotbrough. Ben Lyons (46), Steve Honeyman junior (26 not out) and Mike Threapleton (24) led Sprotbrough to 180-9. Honeyman (4-31) and Threapleton (3-12) then bowled out Edlington-based Main for 137 in reply.

Tom Hathaway (3-41), Ashley Hutt (2-24), Graham Hutchinson (2-30) and Martin Spavin (2-56) were Main’s wicket-takers and Scott Sykes (35), Richard Miller (26) and Hutt (20) their top scorers.

Askern’s three-match winning run ended at champions South Kirkby when they managed only 105, replying to Kirkby’s 163.

Askern’s defeat was tough on all-rounder Dave Longley who took 6-45 and scored 27. Bottom side Nostell’s relegation from Division One was confirmed when they lost by 53 runs at Fishlake.

Josh Mason (30) and Dominic Lawrence (20 not out)steered Fishlake to 108-9 and Keith Bee (5-14), Matt Windass (3-17) and Tom Webster (2-15) routed Nostell for 55. Ten-man Thorne Colliery lost by 10 wickets at Division Three title-chasers Sandal.

Karl Beaumont (15) was the only batsman who reached double figures as Thorne fell for 46, which Sandal overhauled in just seven overs.

Phil Townsend’s superb 86 was not enough to avert Sykehouse’s first defeat in three games as they finished on 154-9, chasing Normanton’s 200-5.

Brodsworth Main clinched promotion in Division Four by beating strugglers Ryhill. Paul Tagg (40) helped Brodsworth post 151-4 and tight bowling kept Ryhill’s reply at 118-6.

Bullcroft Main were indebted to Mark Gelder (44) and Darren Birkett (4-23) for a five-wicket victory against Fishlake A, for whom Paul Moore claimed 4-36. Peglers lost by 17 runs to champions-elect Hundhill Hall when they closed on 196-3, replying to Hall’s 213-8.

Steve Dinnage (68), Ashley Langdale (62no) and Matthew Bedford (33) top-scored for Peglers. Chasing South Kirkby A’s 139-6, Bentley Colliery’s reply fell short at 112-9, despite Stuart Cutmore’s unbeaten 65. Barnby Dun A suffered a seven-wicket Division Five defeat at Notton.
