Len Squire and Paddy Moyles lead Bawtry past Mexborough for first victory

BAWTRY won their first game in the top division of the Doncaster Bowls Association’s Saturday League with Len Squire and Paddy Moyles both winning 21-6 in their 191-151 victory over visiting Mexborough.

Ivan Hill (21-6), Colin Draper (21-7) and Brian Bramley (21-1) were on top form for Roundwood in their 205-136 success over Denaby.

Paul Rice (21-9) and Pete Bilsland (21-8) earned Pilkingtons Rec a 169-169 draw at Yorkshire Main.

Peter Butler (21-9) and Nellie Hyner (21-6) both well for Roundwood, but Armthorpe won their Section B match 173-165 thanks to Andrew Kershaw (21-7) and John Richardson (21-9).

Denise Green (21-9) could not save Eden Grove-Peglers from a 179-158 defeat at Carcroft. Stuart Allen’s 21-9 proved vital for Rossington in their 177-175 win over Maltby Main, for whom Keith Frost (21-7) almost snatched a draw. Steve Shannon (21-3) starred for Westfield Park in their 181-174 win at Roundwood B, for whom Keith Johnson won 21-9.

Adwick A duly completed a 208-124 Section C double over their B team with good wins from Ray Hall (21-5), Brian Nock (21-6) and Jean Hopson (21-9).

Eddie Curtis (21-9) and Dennis Reilly (21-6) featured for Askern in their 175-156 win over Brodsworth, well served Louise Walker (21-8).

Tony Swancott (21-6), Philip Bowen (21-8) and Roy Goodwin (21-8) stood out for Roundwood in their 193-141 win over Yorkshire Main B.

The Edlington club (196-148) fared better against Parklands B. Harvesters had good wins from Gary Salter (21-9), Walter Barnett (21-9) and Conan Ingram (21-7) in their 185-135 SAection D victory over Carcroft B.

Pilkingtons Rec B easily beat their neighbours Pilks Pensioners 208-136.

Terry Chandler (21-6) was the only winner for Rossington B in their 195-154 with Harold Hawson (21-7) staring in Thorne’s 195-154 success.

Hexthorpe B beat Harvesters 179-140.
