Isle of Axholme Billiards League first week of fixtures

THE league’s first week of fixtures have been played with three teams each scoring one point short of the maximum 18 points.

Last season’s league champions Epworth B lost away to last season league runners up and league handicap winners West Butterwick B despite both teams taking three 3 point wins and one 2 point losing games each, Butterwick B scored two on point losing games to decide the match.

Owston Ferry A got off to a flying start winning away to Misterton B 17 points to 8 points. Owston Ferry scored 899 points, 1 point short of the maximum, 900.

Scunthorpe mirrored Owston Ferry A’s start to the season, winning 17 points to 4 points away at Epworth A.

Westwoodside followed in the footsteps of both Owston Ferry A and Scunthorpe winning 17 points away against Owston Ferry C 8 points. Owston Ferry C re-enter the league this season with four new players, making a good start against some strong competition.

Beckingham formerly ‘Misterton A’ also re-enter the league at a new venue. Beckingham won away from home against Owston Ferry B winning 14 points to 10 points, to take them to fourth place in the league. Both teams made three 3 point wins Beckingham scored more losing points to decide the match.

The high breaks recorded so far in the opening week include Dave Palmer 20, 25, 29, 38, 54; Stuart Wallace 26; Dave Poulter 22; Colin Thompson 21; J Clark 17.

Players wanting to enter the league individual competitions should add their names to the competition entry form on display at their home venues for presentation at the next meeting at Owston Ferry on 31st October 2011.
