Doncaster went ahead when former Pakistan captain Muhammad Nadeem skipped past his man and fired home.
Alex Kurly doubled the visitors’ lead after good build-up play down the right, and Matt Gibson restored the two-goal cushion after York struck back through Alex Cockrum.
Doncaster’s claimed that York’s second goal was actually passed into the side netting, before Dan Legg secured a fifth win from seven with a late angled finish.
Doncaster face their toughest challenge of the season on Saturday when they travel to unbeaten Timperley.
