CONISBROUGH speedster Jordan Watling made a decent start to life in the Triumph Challenge Championship during the opening round of the British Superbikes Championship at Brands Hatch.

The 19-year-old finished 17th each of two races last weekend on his Triumph 675cc and coped well in the step up in class from Thundersport 500.

Watling is targeting steady progression this year

Dad Andrew told the Times: “We’re really pleased with his times from last weekend up against some very quick and experienced riders.

“This is a learning year for Jordan and we’re looking for progression each week to get him up in the points.

“It was a fantastic experience for us all and brilliant for Jordan to be down at trackside with people you’ve only ever seen racing on television.

“It was a proud moment for me to be on the grid with him.”

Watling will compete in the second round of the event this weekend at Oulton Park.

Each round will be held alongside a British Superbike event except the fourth which will take place at the British MotoGP.
