EVERTON fisherman Joe Goulding didn’t let his new sponsor down, when he took first place in Sunday’s Open at Fourways Fishery.
The “Cats and Dogs” sponsored angler fishing off peg 3 had 29-3 of mostly bream and the odd carp. It was this carp, landed on the final whistle, which gave him victory over Westwoodside’s Paul Wright.
Paul on peg 6 finished with 27-8 again bream to the fore. On peg 24 Scunthorpe’s Andy Waite came third with 23-00, including a couple of fine crucians. Fourth went to Dave Andrews of Westwoodside, with 6-8 on peg 15.
Pleasure fishing over the past week has been very hit and miss, with the better catches taking place later in the week. Some 40-00 plus nets of bream, carp and tench with odd crucians and rudd being taken. The next open match is on Sunday, September 25, draw 9am, fishing 10am-4pm.
