HUNDREDS of young daredevils ensured Balby Carr’s sparkling new BMX track surged off the starting line.

Riders as young as six took part in a series of races as the new track played host to its first competition, the fourth round of the Midlands Regional Championship.

Among the competitiors taking in the fast hills and corners was Balby’s Grant Hill, widely tipped for a place in the Team GB squad for the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Hill was making his first appearance in the Championship but saw off a 48 man field in the Male 17-24 category to pick up a home town victory.

The 19-year-old was competing along with his brothers Conor Hill and Nathan Wood.
