FORMER European Championship bronze medallist Rebecca Lyne is among the entries in the England Senior Championships this weekend at Bedford.
The Hallamshire Harrier won Euro bronze in 2006, but her career has been derailed by injury since then.
Her only competitive outing this year has been a low-key City Mile at Sunderland where she ran exactly five minutes.
Other local athletes are in action today and tomorrow in the Championships.
Despite its name, the meeting does not tend to attract the cream of the country’s talent.
They will be lining up at the end of July for the trials to select the team for the World Championships.
Nevertheless there will be some keen competition.
Matt Hudson (City of Shewffield) is a serious medal contender for the 110 metres hurdles while teammates Tom Grantham and Steve Garret are listed for the 400 hurdles.
Sheffield sprinter Rick Beardsall is entered for all three sprints, with the 400m likely to be one of the best events of the meeting. Luke Edwards (City of Sheffield) is also competing.
In the field events, Sheffield duo Graeme Matthews (triple jump) and Simon Bissell (discus) are among the entries.
In the women’s events Rotherham’s Louise Bloor, who competes for Trafford, is entered ib the 100 and 200m while City of Sheffield pair Katie Sockett and Rosie Marino are down for the 400 hurdles.
