Stefy Bull believes there will be no bigger small hall fight in the country this year than Gavin McDonnell’s clash with Barnsley’s Josh Wale.

Promoter and manager Bull agreed a deal with Wale’s representative Carl Greaves yesterday for the two fighters to meet at the Dome on September 28.

And with the British Boxing Board of Control expected to sanction the fight as a British super bantamweight title final eliminator, Bull is excited about the big fight on his show.

“It doesn’t get any bigger than this on a local show,” Bull told the Star.

“I don’t think there’s a bigger local derby out there, especially one that will be as cracking a fight as this one.

“Josh has been a the top for a few years now. He’s fought the very best in this country.

“And Gavin has made incredible progress in just three years. He’s on a fantastic run of form.

“This is a great fight against two of the top kids not only in this area but in the country.

“It’s a worthy final eliminator and I’m sure the Board will pass that.”

The bout between Dunscroft’s McDonnell and Brampton’s Wale will take place just a fortnight after Sheffield’s Kid Galahad faces Jazza Dickens for the British title in Rotherham.

Bull said: “I’m sure both us and the Wales will be in the audience for that one, thinking they’re going to be fighting the winner.

“There’s so much at stake in this one. Galahad is on the cusp of a European title fight as well so both Josh and Gav are so close to the big level.

“It’s been a pleasure dealing with the Wales and hopefully this will be the start of a great relationship between us both.”

Bull plans to have big screens in the Dome on the night to show the heavyweight clash between David Haye and Tyson Fury live.

Tickets for the show will be available from next week.
