IN a repeat of the 2010 final, Liz Hall (Parklands) and Daniel Hallas (Armthorpe) defeated Denise Allin (Bawtry) and Richard Curtis (Tickhill) to win the Doncaster Bowls Association’s Mixed Doubles competition for the second time, and a fourth win in total for Hall in the competition.
Their opponents were beaten heavily in that previous final, so it was with some relief that they scored a four at the third end to lead 4-2 and surpass their previous score.
Allin and Curtis extended their lead to 7-3 before Hall and Hallas scored a three to close to within a single point, and another three at the ninth end saw the game level at 9-9.
Two singles saw the Bawtry/Tickhill pairing ahead again, before their opponents won four ends without reply to lead 17-11.
Five ends later Allin and Curtis had closed to 18-17 down, but with the final five ends all going against the jack, with a single point being scored each time, it was Hall and Hallas who finished 21-19 winners.
