DONCASTER Bowls Association: Leaders Woodlands Park throw down gauntlet to rivals

DONCASTER Bowls Association Doubles League Division One leaders Woodlands Park, crushed UNISON 168-79 with big wins from Chris Brown (21-9), Andy Jones (21-8), Dave Patrickson junior (21-2) and Thomas Boyd (21-2).

Joe Walton (21-9) and Chris Jones (21-8) both performed well for Denaby in their 158-116 win over Carcroft.

Rob Swift (21-8) caught the eye for Maltby BC in their 168-110 win over Yorkshire Main.

Mark Booth’s 21-5 win was not enough for Armthorpe as Craig Rumney (21-5), Dave Gibson (21-7) and Jeff Shipley (21-9) won well for Pilkingtons Recreation in their 141-109 win over the visitors.

Dave Gibson’s 21-9 win proved vital for Pilkingtons Rec in their 141-131 away win at UNISON, who finished strongly through Paul Barnett (21-9) and Steve Shannon (21-7).

Eric Cullingworth (21-6) was the best of Eden Grove’s eight winners in their 168-117 Division Two win over Denaby B.

Robert Howard (21-9), Brian Cuffling (21-6) and Brian Gee (21-3) all performed well for Parklands in their 153-98 win over visting Bawtry.

Gary Potter (21-3) was on top form for Rossington in their 1450-126 win over Hexthorpe.

Jack Richardson (21-9), Barry Tomlinson (21-6) and Pete Strutt (21-0) were the best winners for Thorpe Marsh Bentley with a 161-93 victory over visiting Askern.

Frank Potts won 21-7 for Westfield Park, but the league leaders were narrowly beaten (134-132) after Dennis Reilly won 21-4 for Askern.

Hexthorpe had a hat-trick of 21-5 wins from Chris Haigh, Carl Perks and Craig Bamford in their 158-105 victory over Eden Grove-Peglers. Bernard Birchall and Dave Henson both won 21-8 for Armthorpe B in their 165-101 Division Three victory over Yorkshire Main C.

Yorkshire Main B recorded a 153-132 win over Carcroft B. Yorkshire Main boasted a pair of 21-9 wins from Michelle Bowley and George Boothman in their 157-130 victory over Tickhill.
