DARFIELD moved 14 points clear at the top of the table after a dominant win over Wickersley Seconds.

DARFIELD moved 14 points clear at the top of the table after a dominant win over Wickersley Seconds.

Only Matt Burton could make headway against a varied Darfield attack.

He hit 32 of Wickersley’s 103 runs while Chris Jevons took 4-43, Sam Blake 3-30 and Daniel Owen 3-22 to cut through the order.

Darfield made light work of the required target with Scott Adamson powering them to victory with an unbeaten 62, taking just 17.4 overs to do the job.

Collegiate 2nd XI 133

Elsecar 2nd XI 208-8

ELSECAR Seconds are breathing down Darfield’s necks after a comprehensive triumph over Sheffield Collegiate.

The double–pronged attack of Steve Taylor and Graham Higgins disposed of Collegiate to keep Elsecar in touch with Darfield who they have a game in hand over.

Rain reduced the match to 44 overs per side and Elsecar made the most of it, reaching 208-8 at the close with decent contributions of 54 from Liam Musselwhite and 43no from Mark Kingston.

Collegiate had little answer to Taylor and Higgins who claimed 4-52 and 4-37 respectively.

The Sheffield side were bowled for 133 with skipper Mike Simpson’s 27 the top score.

Treeton 2nd XI 202-9 Wath 2nd XI 204-3

A SUPERB unbeaten ton from Steve Reynolds helped Wath Seconds record a much needed win over rock–bottom Treeton.

Things looked promising for the hosts when they stood at 103-2 after opener Richard Coleman hit 50 and Matt Lambert added 30.

But other notable contributions were hard to come by other than Adam Hardy’s unbeaten 36 and they were penned in to 202-9 at the close.

Ricky Crompton claimed 3-48 for Wath whose start to the chase was rather lacklustre.

But third man Joe Thompson set them on the right path with 45 before Reynolds began his run to 105no to secure Wath’s third win of the campaign.
