DARFIELD maintained their lead at the top of the table with an impressive victory at Sheffield Collegiate.

Skipper Michael Simpson smashed 131 but there was little notable support except AJ Pantakar’s 35 as Collegiate fell for 226.

A opening 42 from Liam Marshall laid the groundwork for the Darfield response before Simon Potter took them within sight with 73.

Darfield reached the target with four wickets and as many overs to spare.

Wickersley 2nd XI 243

ELSECAR Seconds held onto their promotion place with a narrow high–scoring victory over Wickersley.

Visiting opener Matt Lowe smashed 115 in just 97 balls with 16 fours and five sixes.

He was supported by Richard Harrison who scored 32 and teamed with Lowe for a 131 run second wicket partnership.

Michael Donson added a run a ball 41 but Wickersley fell at 243 with four overs remaining as Shaun Pedler claimed 3-48 and Steve Taylor 4-43.

Adrian Meadows hit 93 while junior Ethan Gray added 48, ensuring an opening stand of 97.

Meadows eventually left with the score at 182-6 with skipper Mark Kingston seeing matters through to the conclusion in the 50th over with 27no.

Paul Melia took 4 for 53 for Wickersley.
